Introduction
The Bruno Sacco designed W-126 Mercedes S-Class built between 1979 and 1992 is without doubt considered to be a ‘high point’ in the history of the Mercedes-Benz brand.
Long before Lexus became a competitor, in the days when a Mercedes was deemed superior to a BMW or Audi, their W-126 was the absolute flagship of the brand, exuding a certain pomp and confidence above their German ‘rivals’.
Mercedes of course didn’t consider them as rivals, because they simply didn’t build a car like Mercedes did, and at the time, to merely enter a Mercedes Showroom felt like it required a certain social standing !
Built by engineers and not accountants, the W-126 series, along with other Mercedes-Benz vehicles of the era, in terms of their quality and engineering, are never likely to be seen again – making such a car these days would simply be too expensive to justify both their build and retails cost in an ever competitive market that chases profit above all else.

Description
Supplied new by Alan Day Mercedes-Benz of Finchley Road, London on 25th August 1988, this W-126 S-Class is genuinely, virtually indistinguishable from a new one.
I have always thought that cars talk to you, and this one screams its originality and outstanding condition from the moment you walk up to it, with just a few small marks and imperfections suggesting it is perhaps only a couple of years old, it’s hard to believe it’s actually over 32 years old now.
Retained by the original owner from new until 2012, it had seen very little use until purchased by the 3rd owner in 2014 with just over 10,000 Miles recorded, who then set about using the car as normal transport during his ownership, taking the total mileage now to just shy of 43,000 Miles.
The interior is like new, retaining all its original equipment including the unopened first aid kit, into the boot which doesn’t look to have ever carried anything, then under the boot floor where the unused spare wheel and tool kit remain.
If you are looking for an outstanding example, this is surely it and absolutely must be viewed to be appreciated. I doubt there are many, if any, that present as originally as this superb piece of automotive engineering does.
Complete with its Wallet, Handbook, Service Book, Spare Keys and a nice file of invoices and previous MOT Certificates.
