Introduction
The Lotus Sport Exige 240R was a limited edition model based on the previous years ‘Mk2’ Exige and was produced by the Lotus Sport division at Hethel.
Only 50 vehicles were made, making them very sought after and rarely available for sale.
Standard Specification for the 240 R was as follows:
Supercharged and intercooled 2ZZ engine producing 240bhp & 170lb/ft.
Twin front-mounted oil coolers and Accusump oil surge protection.
Two-way adjustable Ohlins dampers with track spec springs.
Adjustable front anti-roll bar.
Uprated front brake setup.
Motorsport spec T45 roll over protection bar.
Special trimmed race seats with Schroth harnesses.
Lightweight 5-spoke forged alloy wheels with new Yokohama A048 tyres.
Lotus Sport developed front splitter and rear spoiler.
Unique Lotus Sport build plate.
Description
Just 2 owners from new, the last for 15 years, this Exige 240 R is presented in delightful condition, recently benefitting from having the nose repainted by Option 1 Motorsport, along with a new Windscreen.
*PLEASE NOTE – The Instrument stack was replaced under warranty by Stratstone Lotus soon after purchase when the car had covered around 10,000 Miles, the speedo now displays 9,355 miles since then but the exact mileage covered when it was replaced has not been officially recorded.
A spare set ‘Racing Dynamics’ 16″ front and 17″ rear wheels are included with the car, they are currently fitted with Yokohama Advan Wet Tyres but these tyres need replacing and are not useable. Also included are its original handbook, Ohlins Tools for adjusting the dampers along with its Spare Keys & Clifford Alarm Remotes – the car is also fitted with a Sony Single CD/Radio which the owner said he’d never turned on !
There isn’t a huge amount of history with the car as the long term owner carried out regular maintenance himself, pretty much after every trip to the circuit – but the MOT record is complete and it has been unused and declared SORN since its last service at Lotus Silverstone in September 2020, and has been largely unused since 2015.
The engine was replaced by Lotus in 2009, invoice present, the car has covered around 8,000 Miles since.
A new throttle body was fitted in January 2022, also carried out at Lotus Silverstone.
This example is build number 30 of just 50 in total worldwide, of which 18 were destined for the UK market.
