Introduction
Porsche revealed the face-lifted 991.2 GT3 at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017 which went on sale later in the same year. New aerodynamic upgrades were added to increase efficiency to the front bumper and rear wing, as well as aesthetic changes to the rear lights and rear bumper. The 991.2 has also been lowered by half an inch. However, the biggest and most noticeable change was to the 4.0-litre flat six, which has a 200cc increase from the 991.1 and now revs to a staggering 9000rpm.
This new naturally aspirated 4.0ltr produces 493bhp and 339lb-ft of torque and propels the manual GT3 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 199mph.
However, the best upgrade from the 991 Gen I to the Gen II, is the option of the manual gearbox. After the success of the manual-only Cayman GT4, and limited-run 911R. Porsche gave the opportunity to own a modern GT3 with a driver-oriented manual gearbox.
All this has made the 991.2 generation of the GT3 become something of a legend even in Porsche circles, and whilst the option of a PDK gearbox is still available the manual is the most sought-after tick box to check.
